Exit paused: it needs Wi-Fi or Ethernet: what the ForestVPN message ne.no_wired_or_wifi means, why it appears and what to do about it.
Updated October 11, 2026
The app says: "It needs Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It will start again when it's back on one."
What it means
This device paused serving as an exit because it is not on Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Its own connection is not affected.
What to do
Nothing. It starts again when the device is back on Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Why it happens
An exit can use a lot of data, so it does not run on a mobile or metered connection.
Where you see it
The apps that have the private network show this message, on the Devices and Locations screens. The code is ne.no_wired_or_wifi.
