Share

Share your home internet with people you trust

Let a parent, a partner or a friend use your home connection while you're away, or reach one device on your network — for as long as you choose, and only with someone you name.

How it works

How it works

  1. 01

    Pick what to share

Choose the device or exit, then Share with a person. Give it a name only you see, like "Mom".

  2. 02

    Choose access and time

Internet through this device, or this device only. Then 1 day, 7 days, 30 days (the default), or no end date.

  3. 03

    Send the invite

A single-use link and QR code, valid 24 hours, or a short code to read aloud. They open it in ForestVPN and accept.

What sharing means
They'll look like you online
Traffic through a shared exit carries your home connection's address, the same as it would for you.
You can see what they do
If you share internet through a device, you can always see which sites the person visits. When the connection is direct, you can also see their internet address.
They can see your address too
The person you shared with can see your device's public internet address — the way any website they visit through it would.
There's no record of who did what
ForestVPN's servers keep no account database and no record linking a session to an exit — sharing doesn't create one.
Up to 5 people per exit
You can share one exit with up to 5 people at a time.
You can remove anyone instantly
Revoke from any of your devices, or set an end date up front. Access stops within seconds while the exit is online, and within 15 minutes even if it briefly can't reach ForestVPN.
You stay in control

You see who's using your exit right now, on the device that's sharing it. Sharing is open to every plan, Free included, from a device that's been on your account for a week or more — a way of slowing down a stolen or borrowed phone rather than a limit on trust.

Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Using a shared exit and sharing one are both on every plan, Free included.
Does the person I share with need Premium?
No. They can be on Free.
Can ForestVPN see what either of us does?
No record anywhere links a session to an exit, and the service that carries your traffic holds no account database. See our privacy policy.
What happens if my computer turns off?
The person you shared with loses access until it's back online — the same as it would if you were using it yourself.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, to accept a share and connect. Sharing your own connection works from desktop and router platforms.
