Use cases
Put your whole home through ForestVPN
Install ForestVPN once on your router and every device on your network uses it, including TVs and consoles that cannot run an app. MikroTik routers are supported today.
The problem
Smart TVs, consoles and guests' devices cannot run a VPN app, and installing one on every phone and laptop is a chore.
How ForestVPN does it
- 01
Install on the router
Add ForestVPN to your MikroTik router as a RouterOS container.
- 02
Link it to your account
The router prints a link code. Use it, and the router signs in like any other device.
- 03
Choose what goes through
Send everything, chosen apps or only chosen devices through the tunnel, and pick the exit from a page on your network.
OpenWrt routers have a signed package feed and a LuCI app: see the OpenWrt page.
What you need
- A MikroTik router that runs RouterOS 7 containers.
- Your ForestVPN account.
- About 3 MB of memory for the core.
Limits
- The router's CPU is the speed limit. On the two test routers the core moved 122 Mbit/s over a gigabit LAN.
- A router is one device on your account.
