Restore your Premium

Getting a subscription you already bought in the App Store or Google Play back onto this device, without paying again.

Updated October 8, 2026

A subscription bought in the App Store or Google Play belongs to the Apple Account or Google account that paid for it. Restoring asks that store whether the account signed in on this device has one, and switches Premium on if it does. It never charges you.

On iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV

  1. Check that the device is signed in to the same Apple Account that bought the subscription.
  2. Open ForestVPN, go to Account, and choose Restore Purchases.
  3. The app tells you the result: Premium is active on this device, it was already active, or no subscription was found.

On Android

  1. Check that Google Play is signed in to the Google account that bought the subscription.
  2. Open ForestVPN, go to Account, and choose Restore purchases. The paywall has the same button.
  3. The app tells you the result: Premium is active, it was already active, or no subscription was found on the Google account signed in on this device.

If nothing is found

  • The usual cause is a different store account. Compare the account this device is signed in to with the one that paid. For Apple, your subscriptions lists what an Apple Account has bought.
  • If you paid on the web, with a card or crypto, there is nothing to restore from a store. That purchase belongs to your account number: sign in with it under Account.
  • If the device that paid is gone, see using your subscription on another device.
  • If you no longer have the account number, see lost your account number.

What restoring cannot do

Apple and Google sell, renew, cancel and refund their own subscriptions. We can do none of that for you, and restoring does not change what you are billed. To cancel, use the store the subscription was bought in.
