The server cannot reach the internet

The server cannot reach the internet: what the ForestVPN message net.exit_unreachable means, why it appears and what to do about it.

Updated October 11, 2026

The app says: "The server can't reach the internet."

What it means

Your connection to the server works, but the server cannot get out to the internet.

What to do

Choose another location and connect again.

Why it happens

The server has a problem with its own connection. This is the one connection message that a change of location really fixes.

Where you see it

The ForestVPN apps show this message on the connection screen, and in a notification when it affects your connection. The code is net.exit_unreachable.
