ForestVPN vs Hamachi and Radmin VPN: checked, Oct 2026
Playing with friends: ForestVPN against Hamachi and Radmin VPN on the same rows, including the games that only a virtual LAN can run.
Last updated October 8, 2026
How we compared. We measured nothing about Hamachi or Radmin VPN, so this page makes no speed claim about either. Everything about them is quoted from their own pages, with the date we read them. They are tools for making a virtual local network; ForestVPN is a VPN that can also reach your friends' devices by name. The honest question is which games each can run.

Architecture and performance
Not compared: we have not measured either, and the pages we read make no performance statement we could cite.
Encryption and security
Radmin VPN states 256-bit AES end to end [2]. The Hamachi page we read does not state its encryption, so we leave the cell empty rather than guess. ForestVPN uses the WireGuard handshake, unmodified.
Sign-in and accounts
ForestVPN has no email or password: an account number is the account. We did not read how Hamachi or Radmin VPN sign users in.
Setup and platforms
With ForestVPN you share one of your devices with a named person and they join by address or name; there is no network password to pass around. Hamachi and Radmin VPN put every member on one virtual LAN. ForestVPN also works on phones and TVs, where those two do not appear in the lists we read [1] [2].
Cost
Hamachi is free for up to 5 computers and priced per year above that [1]. Radmin VPN is free [2]. ForestVPN has a Free plan and Premium on the pricing page.
Where Hamachi and Radmin VPN are better
- Games that find each other by LAN broadcast. A virtual LAN is exactly the thing those games expect. ForestVPN does not provide one, so a game that has no "join by address" option will not see your friends here.
- Radmin VPN is entirely free [2], with no member cap stated on its page.
- Hamachi has a published network-size ladder from 5 to 256 computers [1].
The bottom line
If the game you want to play only finds friends on a local network, use Hamachi or Radmin VPN. If it lets you type an address or a name, ForestVPN does it without a virtual network, on more kinds of device, and the same tunnel is a VPN the rest of the time.
